When I was in Pondicherry,I had crepes at almost every cafe I hopped in.
Originally French,Crepes are a type of very thin pancakes, usually made from wheat flour.The word is of French origin, deriving from the Latin crispa, meaning “curled”.
Crêpes are served with a variety of fillings, from the simplest with only sugar to elaborate savoury ones.
So when I received an invite to the newly opened Suzette in Powai,I was curious to know how this french creperie would fare in comparison with all the crepes i savoured in Pondy.
And the verdict was:
Suzette beats all of them hands down!
A wonderful cafe tucked in one of the bylanes in Hiranandani ( next to Aroma’s Cafe), the ambience is bright, appealing and very cafe like.
You can actually see the chefs make your crepe while you mule over what to order next from their elaborate menu.
I settle to order a Pizza crepe with fresh orange juice.
The pizza crepe is yummy with a tomato paste, olives, mushrooms and lots of cheese!
The best part is you can customise your own salad. The portions of the salad are HUGE!
The BLT sandwich is a winner. And so is the Avocado crepe with lots of lettuce and feta.
There are a variety of croques (akin to a wrap) available as well.
Loved their cheesecake, Choco brownie and mousse. It gets difficult to pick a favourite from these.
Definitely coming back for their raspberry smoothie!
It was a delight meeting Pierre,one of the owners of the chain,who took us through the menu and the entire process of crepe-making.
My 2 cents:
1. Food: 4/5 for the variety and the fresh ingredients. Found the meals wholesome and high on health.
2. Ambience: 3.5/5
3. Service: 3.5/5
4. Overall: 4/5 for the sheer newness of the cuisine.
