Sunday Lunch at Zen Cafe

ZenCafe was on my Mumbai Foodspots Bucketlist since a long time. It had been spoken about by many for its cosy interiors and limited, but satiating menu.

It is tucked up in one of the old mill compounds in Lower Parel, in fact you have to enter this luxurious interior store and climb up a floor Β (Cafe Zen is on the first floor of the store) to find this hidden gem!

It’s true essence is of a cafe so to expect luxury dining would be unfair. The seating is just perfect , with couches as well as chairs and there’s a book shelf too! πŸ™‚

The menu isn’t elaborate but you can easily choose what you want!

It is a pure veg cafe with a lot of variety when it comes to teas and coffees.

The chocolate fanatic in me ordered an Iced chocolate shake while Pri ordered a brownie shake and Hitz ordered an Iced tea.Noone can possibley go wrong with a chocolate shake and mine was just perfect. As both stopped clicking while drinking I assume they loved what they ordered πŸ˜‰ (Kidding! They actually did)

We settled for the Pizza Del Giardino with capsicum. onions and Olives and it did not disappoint πŸ™‚

4/5 for this! πŸ™‚

Pizza Del Giardino

Lebanese love was all over the table so Hummus had to be ordered πŸ˜‰

Next on the table was Hummus layered with fresh pesto and feta which was served with crisp Lavash.

The combination of feta and hummus resulted in a creamy delight. Feta provided the sour flavor while pesto ensured the “herby” taste πŸ™‚

3.5 /5 for this!

Beverages: Check

To add to the global cuisine ordering pattern πŸ˜‰ we ordered Nachos Del Sol , a melange of Salsa, beans and delightful Cheese over Nacho Chips.

Nachos Del Sol

This was a delight! Reason: The beans were crushed a little and not whole, so they were well mixed with the cheese and salsa!

4/5 for this!

And the winner of the meal was : *drum rolls* The apple cinnamon cake! Β Absolute bliss .5/5 for this! ( rhymes never leave me!)

The Apple Cinnamon cake

So a quick summary:

1. Food: Definitely a 4/5

2. Service: Well , when we dined there were only two tables occupied ( one of which was ours;p ) so it was decent enough. No complaints!

3. Ambience: A typical cafe ambience, dim lit and cozy.

4.Β Parking is a pain! The lanes are narrow and you have to scout for a place to park( Call them up and ask them to help you find a place to park!)

5.Will I visit again? Definitely Yes. The memories of the Apple cinnamon cake will make sure of that!

In case you have been to the place , do let me know what was a hit and what can be missed πŸ™‚
